Avengers: Endgame sure it will bethe swan song of many avengers, including (probably) everyone's favorite billionaire Playboy philanthropist,Tony Stark. The former war profiteer has come a long way since 2008, and he shows off a new Iron Man suit or twenty in every film he's in.
Here's an overview of the suits that Robert Downey Jr.the first 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the comics they come from. No offense to War Machine, Iron Monger, or even Iron Spider, but the original armor wearer is where it is.

Appropriate debut inexciting storiesIssue titled "Iron Man Is Born!", the Mk. Armor I was developed by Stark and his fellow prisoner Ho Yinsen after Stark was kidnapped in Vietnam. (Vietnam was updated to Afghanistan in the film.) The suit was designed as a pacemaker to prevent shrapnel from reaching Stark's heart and, as in the film, was used to escape his captors. Stark stuck with the armor for a while in the comics and painted it gold because its initial gray was too creepy.

In the film, the Mk. II came about after Stark returned to his posh home in Malibu and decided to rework his original armor with the sleek design we all know, just shiny and chromed. The MK. II was our first glimpse of the repulsor technology that would be included in later iterations and led us toone of the best scenesno originalIronman. In the comics, the Mk. II was made after fighting Mister Doll when Tony realized the original armor was too heavy. One of the Mk. II models was later melted down to help create the Mk. 37

The first Iron Man armor with repulsor beams and a faceplate in the comics, the Mk. III managed to last 11 years before it had to be replaced. As we see in the film, it is the first full version of Iron Man's armor to feature the red and gold color scheme and was used to defeat the Ten Rings terrorists and Obadiah Stane, aka Iron Monger. This was the last armor in the comics Stark wore before he got his first solo book.
Mark IV (Iron Man 2)

A fight with the super villain known as Freak destroyed the Mk. III armor. The MK. IV is one of the most enduring models and was used by Stark's friend James Rhodes during his tenure as Iron Man. This is usually Stark's backup suit when his modern armor fails. InIronman 2,Stark used the Mk. IV for most of the film until the conclusion of the Mk. MOUNTAINS.

Fullverylittle resemblance between the Mk. V armor in the comics and that in the movie. While the film version is about a one-of-a-kind laptop used (and subsequently discarded) in the fight against Whiplash, the comic book version was for space exploration and fighting the villain Sunturion. However, due to Stark's advances in technology, it's clearly not very important.

Another suit that bears very few similarities between its two versions, the Mk. VI was specifically made for underwater excursions in the comics. Everything has been reworked to work in the depths of the ocean, plus the ability to dispose of its wielder should an escape become necessary. InIronman 2,Stark creates the armor after creating a new item for his arc reactor. And as we have seenAvenger,It was the first suit to have underwater capabilities and the first to be dented by the helicarrier's blades.
Mark VII (The Avengers)

Sometimes you need a stealthier suit, and that's where the Mk. VII comes in. The stealth suit was used to infiltrate a Roxxon space satellite after being donated by Space Armor and was later used to infiltrate Soviet airspace during the early Arms Wars. (Long story.) Mc. Armor VII is what Stark wears during the final act ofThe Avengers, and can be activated with a pair of bracelets. These bracelets also served as a starting point for the...
Mark XLII (Iron Man 3)

EmIron Man 3,Tony Stark built a variety of Iron Man suits, just over 30 in all, as a coping method to distract himself from fear, a set of technologies known as the Iron Legion, but the Mk. 42 is the only one that really matters .
Computer chips implanted in his arms allow Stark to summon the various parts of the Mk. 42 to your location at will and even control it remotely like a drone. The comic book armor has the same remote control ability but was created in part thanks to Rocket Raccoon inspiring the ability to add or remove mods for any situation.

Another suit designed to destroy Extremis samples in the comics, Stark's Mk. He created 44 armor so he could fight 13 superhumans at once. The heavy-duty armor comes with plenty of firepower to handle them all, along with defensive capabilities to match. Meanwhile, the film version marks the debut of the iconic Hulkbuster armor, first appearing in the comics as the Mk. 13-inchIronman#300. The Hulkbuster armor was completely damaged during the fight with the Hulkage of ultron, but was corrected at the timeAvengers: Infinity Warlike mk. 49, used by Bruce Banner.

Created while Stark was roaming space with the Guardians, the Mk. 46 was intended as a mod for the Model 42, but solo use was also allowed. He has no real difference other than having laser cannons on his shoulders.civil warsThe big difference with the armor is that it is portable enough that Stark can wear it on his wrist like a watch or keep it in the seat of a helicopter.
Mark XLVII (Spider-Man: Homecoming)

A mix of typical Stark armor and the heaviest armament of the War Machine suits, the Mk. 47 is armed to the teeth with rocket launchers and Gatling guns throughout. Which is only fair since he was vacationing in space and fighting deadly aliens. InSpider Man: Homecoming, the Mk of this version. 47 could be remote controlled or carried like the Iron Legion, and was fitted with a set of deployable minidrives.

Mark LXXXV (Avengers: Endgame...-Trailer)
First impression:invincible iron manNr. 1 (2015),Avengers: Endgame(2019)
85 (!!) armor by number, but the 51st he's ever built in the MCU, this adorable suit will eventually make its debutAvengers: Endgame. The 51st armor Stark made in the comics, Model-Prime, came about after Riri Williams, who would later become Ironheart, recreated Stark's armor. Model-Prime can change its shape and color depending on the situation. Later, Doctor Doom would steal a version of this armor, only in gray with his classic green cloak, and use it to try to be a good guy while Tony was dead.Become the infamous Iron Man.
So far we've only seen blurry glimpses of armor in trailers forAvengers: Endgame, but we'll definitely keep an eye out for when the film hits theaters. 26th of April.
