Avengers: Endgame sure it will bethe swan song of many avengers, including (probably) everyone's favorite billionaire Playboy philanthropist,Tony Stark. The former war profiteer has come a long way since 2008, and he shows off a new Iron Man suit or twenty in every film he's in.

Here's an overview of the suits that Robert Downey Jr.the first 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the comics they come from. No offense to War Machine, Iron Monger, or even Iron Spider, but the original armor wearer is where it is.

Mark-I

Appropriate debut inexciting storiesIssue titled "Iron Man Is Born!", the Mk. Armor I was developed by Stark and his fellow prisoner Ho Yinsen after Stark was kidnapped in Vietnam. (Vietnam was updated to Afghanistan in the film.) The suit was designed as a pacemaker to prevent shrapnel from reaching Stark's heart and, as in the film, was used to escape his captors. Stark stuck with the armor for a while in the comics and painted it gold because its initial gray was too creepy.

Mark II

In the film, the Mk. II came about after Stark returned to his posh home in Malibu and decided to rework his original armor with the sleek design we all know, just shiny and chromed. The MK. II was our first glimpse of the repulsor technology that would be included in later iterations and led us toone of the best scenesno originalIronman. In the comics, the Mk. II was made after fighting Mister Doll when Tony realized the original armor was too heavy. One of the Mk. II models was later melted down to help create the Mk. 37

Brand III

The first Iron Man armor with repulsor beams and a faceplate in the comics, the Mk. III managed to last 11 years before it had to be replaced. As we see in the film, it is the first full version of Iron Man's armor to feature the red and gold color scheme and was used to defeat the Ten Rings terrorists and Obadiah Stane, aka Iron Monger. This was the last armor in the comics Stark wore before he got his first solo book.

Mark IV (Iron Man 2)

A fight with the super villain known as Freak destroyed the Mk. III armor. The MK. IV is one of the most enduring models and was used by Stark's friend James Rhodes during his tenure as Iron Man. This is usually Stark's backup suit when his modern armor fails. InIronman 2,Stark used the Mk. IV for most of the film until the conclusion of the Mk. MOUNTAINS.

Fullverylittle resemblance between the Mk. V armor in the comics and that in the movie. While the film version is about a one-of-a-kind laptop used (and subsequently discarded) in the fight against Whiplash, the comic book version was for space exploration and fighting the villain Sunturion. However, due to Stark's advances in technology, it's clearly not very important.

Mark VI

Another suit that bears very few similarities between its two versions, the Mk. VI was specifically made for underwater excursions in the comics. Everything has been reworked to work in the depths of the ocean, plus the ability to dispose of its wielder should an escape become necessary. InIronman 2,Stark creates the armor after creating a new item for his arc reactor. And as we have seenAvenger,It was the first suit to have underwater capabilities and the first to be dented by the helicarrier's blades.

EmIron Man 3,Tony Stark built a variety of Iron Man suits, just over 30 in all, as a coping method to distract himself from fear, a set of technologies known as the Iron Legion, but the Mk. 42 is the only one that really matters .

Computer chips implanted in his arms allow Stark to summon the various parts of the Mk. 42 to your location at will and even control it remotely like a drone. The comic book armor has the same remote control ability but was created in part thanks to Rocket Raccoon inspiring the ability to add or remove mods for any situation.
